Shared Services MA: FCC Business United
United Way’s effort focuses specifically on family childcare (FCC) educators serving low-income children, most of whom are women. Many speak a primary language other than English which increases their ability to provide culturally-responsive childcare to young children from families of similar ethnicities who speak the same language yet often limits their access to resources. While most FCC educators are trained in early childhood pedagogy, they lack the training and support other types of entrepreneurs receive - from basic business practices like budgeting and recordkeeping to industry-specific issues like rate-setting.
